DescriptionRectangular multi-media collage. The base is gray cardstock and all four edges are uneven. The collage is made up of different colors of construction paper (red, blue, light brown, brown, yellow, orange, pink, and gray-brown) and a single piece of gold paper. The gold paper is in the center of the upper half of the object, with a piece of light brown construction paper to its proper left. This light brown paper has a small piece of orange paper on its proper left upper corner and together they make up the upper proper left corner of the object. A piece of red paper is on the proper right edge of the object, and another red piece of paper makes up three-quarters of the bottom third of the object.Dimensions3.5433 x 2.0866 in. Artist and teacher Samuel Rosenberg (1896-1972) had a prolific career in Pittsburgh, leading him to be called the “Dean of Pittsburgh painters.” He is perhaps best-known for his scenes of the Hill District in the 1920s and 1930s. Rosenberg was a beloved presence in the Pittsburgh art world and influenced numerous artists through his teaching careers at the Irene Kaufmann Settlement, Young Men & Women’s Hebrew Association, and Carnegie Tech.
