DescriptionRectangular multi-media collage. The base is printed paper (as seen on reverse). Layers of acrylic paint in red, dark blue, and purple on top of printed paper make up the collage face. Red acrylic paint is present in a lowercase "r" shape along the proper right edge, while another abstract section of red acrylic paint makes up the proper right half of the upper edge of the object. An abstract section of dark blue acrylic paint runs from upper edge of the object to the lower edge in the proper lef half of the object. Printed text in foreign language on reverse.Dimensions2.6772 x 2.9134 in. (6.8 x 7.4 cm)
Historical NotesArtwork by the Pittsburgh artist Samuel Rosenberg. Artist and teacher Samuel Rosenberg (1896-1972) had a prolific career in Pittsburgh, leading him to be called the “Dean of Pittsburgh painters.” He is perhaps best-known for his scenes of the Hill District in the 1920s and 1930s. Rosenberg was a beloved presence in the Pittsburgh art world and influenced numerous artists through his teaching careers at the Irene Kaufmann Settlement, Young Men & Women’s Hebrew Association, and Carnegie Tech.
