DescriptionShort, shallow, salt-glazed stoneware crock: wide, full-width mouth, overhanging rim with tooled beading; interior glazed with Albany slip; exterior has fired to a light grey color, with three freehand-brushed cobalt-slip lines; center band is a wavy line; also all-around cobalt bands at base and upper rim; base is slightly concave.Dimensions4 x 7.375 in. (10.2 x 18.7 cm)Historical NotesLow vessels such as this were normally made for butter, cheese, cakes, etc.
