DescriptionSmall, low, unlidded crock: hand-thrown, heavy, straight walls; full-width mouth, with heavy, roll-over edge; salt-glazed exterior has fired to a medium gray; decoration consisting of three parallel bands, hand-brushed in cobalt blue slip.Dimensions4.75 x 7 in. (12.1 x 17.8 cm)Historical NotesProbably made by a Southwestern Pennsylvania pottery, with striped decoration sometimes known as "watermelon" style; this type of vessel used for butter, cheese, cake, etc.
