DescriptionTall stoneware storage jar; four gallon capacity; very smooth surface and refined lines; three deep incised lines above waist, outlined in cobalt blue slip; wide applied handles at shoulder; attractive wavy vine motif at shoulder, repeating leaves and series of brushed-on wavy lines on lower part of vessel surround a cursive numeral; sharply defined overhanging rim at mouth.Dimensions14.75 x 10 in. Historical NotesVery high level of craftsmanship; possibly made by an early Greensboro, Pennsylvania-area potter; may have been scorched somewhat during firing.
