DescriptionApproximately half gallon capacity salt-glazed stoneware storage jar: tall, smooth-sided body, narrows at neck, with overhanging rim, and wax-sealer-type shelf inside mouth; exterior is a light gray color, with cobalt-blue stencilling with maker information and stencilled motif at center, resembling a candleabra or footed cross; dark Albany slip coating on the interior of vessel.Dimensions10.25 x 6.125 in. (26 x 15.6 cm)
MarksCobalt-blue stencilling, which reads: "T.F. Reppert / Greensboro Pa".
Historical NotesThomas F. Reppert (b.1835, d.1927) took over the pottery of James Hamilton & Company (Greensboro, Pennsylvania) in 1880. He was in partnership with William T. Williams ("Williams and Reppert") until 1884, when he ran the firm alone as "T.F. Reppert, Sucessor to James Hamilton".
