Historical NotesFilter cone produced by Braddock Carnegie Arts Program; water jar hand-built by Jeffrey Schwarz. Ceramic water filter and receptacle made at the Braddock Carnegie Art’s Program by Jeffrey A. Schwarz Jr., a local ceramics artist, for Pure Water for All. Potters for Peace, an international organization of ceramic artists set up in 1986 to help Nicaraguan potters find a market for their wares, started the water filter program. Braddock native Richard Wukich, a ceramics professor at Slippery Rock and member of Potters for Peace, set up the studio in Braddock with the help of former students such as Schwarz. It is the first ceramic water filter studio in North America.
