Historical NotesE.S. & B. was begun by W.H. Elverson, John Sherwood, and C.A, Barker in 1879. The firm was sold to the Pittsburgh Clay Manufacturing Company in 1890. The unusual glazing of this item seems to suggest a relatively late production date. Part of a collection of stoneware from local manufacturers in the Western Pennsylvania region.
