DescriptionCollage on large piece of white rectangular sketchbook paper. Paper has been covered in pencil lines with have then been filled in with scraps of tissue paper and pieces from an advertisement. A piece of advertisement in the upper right corner has text with date over a blurred view of scenery. The pieces of tissue and advertisement along the left edge are tan, an ocean scene, yellow, brown, and orange. In the upper center, there is a red and orange upside-down "V" formation. Along the right edge, the tissue is blue, yellow, teal, and hot pink with red pieces along the bottom edge.Dimensions17.687 x 11.5 in. Historical NotesArtwork by the Pittsburgh artist Samuel Rosenberg. Artist and teacher Samuel Rosenberg (1896-1972) had a prolific career in Pittsburgh, leading him to be called the “Dean of Pittsburgh painters.” He is perhaps best-known for his scenes of the Hill District in the 1920s and 1930s. Rosenberg was a beloved presence in the Pittsburgh art world and influenced numerous artists through his teaching careers at the Irene Kaufmann Settlement, Young Men & Women’s Hebrew Association, and Carnegie Tech.
