DescriptionCollage on large rectangular piece of paper that has been folded in half. Collage covers upper half of page. Paper is covered with yellow, pink, blue, green, black, grey, white, and brown tissue paper. Areas of tissue paper have been covered with white paint. Along the top edge of the page, there are brown, black, yellow, blue, white, and green pieces of tissue paper. In the middle and along the bottom, there are grey, white, yellow, pink, and blue pieces of tissue.Dimensions12 x 19 in. Artist and teacher Samuel Rosenberg (1896-1972) had a prolific career in Pittsburgh, leading him to be called the “Dean of Pittsburgh painters.” He is perhaps best-known for his scenes of the Hill District in the 1920s and 1930s. Rosenberg was a beloved presence in the Pittsburgh art world and influenced numerous artists through his teaching careers at the Irene Kaufmann Settlement, Young Men & Women’s Hebrew Association, and Carnegie Tech.
