DescriptionCollage created on square piece of white cardboard irregular top edge. Cardboard has smears of blue and purple paint along the left side and near the lower right corner. There are large pieces of tissue paper glued in the center and along the upper right corner. Glued on top of the larger layer of tissue, there are smaller pieces of black, hot pink and white tissue paper.Dimensions8 x 8 in. Artist and teacher Samuel Rosenberg (1896-1972) had a prolific career in Pittsburgh, leading him to be called the “Dean of Pittsburgh painters.” He is perhaps best-known for his scenes of the Hill District in the 1920s and 1930s. Rosenberg was a beloved presence in the Pittsburgh art world and influenced numerous artists through his teaching careers at the Irene Kaufmann Settlement, Young Men & Women’s Hebrew Association, and Carnegie Tech.
