DescriptionUnusual salt-glazed stoneware jar: a-typical bell-shaped body, the upper section of which is decorated with a moulded embossed grape-vine pattern; wide, recessed shelf at top, moulded to accept a lid of some sort (not intact); brown slip coating on interior.Dimensions8.5 x 7.5 in. (21.6 x 19.1 cm)Historical NotesVery unusual form. Donor stated that this item was very early, but moulded elements seem to suggest a more later (modern?) date. It seems likely that this crock was not made by a Western Pennsylvania pottery.
