Historical NotesThe partnership of W.H. Elverson, John Sherwood, and C.A. Barker began operations in 1879. In 1881, Louis Barker joined the firm, and it became "Elverson, Sherwood and Barker Ltd.", though the ware was still stencilled "E.S. & B."; the company was sold to the Pittsburgh Clay Manufacturing Company in 1890. Part of a collection of stoneware from local manufacturers in the Western Pennsylvania region.
