No filling in the quilt.Dimensions80 in. (203.2 cm)Historical NotesMade by donor Helen C. Schorr's great grandmother, Catherine Decker Mayer. Catherine Decker Mayer is said to have made this quilt while waiting to give birth to her sixth child, Casper P. Mayer. Family lore says she had a hard time sleeping when she was pregnant and spent a lot of time quilting. Catherine was born in France in 1829, emigrated to the United States in the mid-1840s, and lived in Bull Run (now the West Mifflin area) in the 1850s.
