Historical NotesHandmade quilt given to donor Phyllis Koschik by grandmother, Sarah Louisa May Carrick Delbridge. Her grandmother was Nancy Whitaker, who made the quilt for her daughter, Sarah Ann Carrick. Part of a collection of items related to the Carrick/Delbridge family. The solid color silk triangles are dominated by black; one side is all silk patches and the other sides is made from Sarah's wedding dress. Sarah Whitaker and William Carrick were married September 6, 1866. William Carrick fought in the 63rd Regiment of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Civil War Volunteers. This quilt is unusual because it has two equally attractive sides.
