DescriptionSignature quilt that has pink and green floral print borders, an appliqued and embroidered portrait in a large central rectangle, and thirty-seven embroidered signature blocks on ivory muslin. Blocks also depict hospital cap and mask, coffee pot, soda bottles, Native American Chief, teepee, Canadian leaves, bear with fish, Dale's 1954 Chevrolet, an x-ray, and an operating table. Blocks are joined with hand-sewn seams covered by decorative woven tape. The back of the quilt shows the hand-sewn seams and has a five-inch wide sleeve for displaying quilt as wall hanging.Dimensions79 x 70 in. Historical NotesCreated as a tribute to an operating room technician who worked for 45 years at Uniontown Hospital. Signature quilt made for Atwood Dalzell Scoemaker Owens (Dale Owens) as a gift on his retirement from Uniontown Hospital, where he worked as technician from 1927 to 1972.
