DescriptionCollage created on part of a magazine advertisement. Glued in the upper right corner, there is a smaller piece of paper with red, brown, orange, and yellow paint with pink and orange oil pastels. Under that, there is a grey piece of construction paper with white spots painted on. In the lower half of the page, there is a large black piece of paper with a floral design on the right side of it. On the bottom of the page, there is an orange strip glued diagonally under smaller pieces of red and green clippings. Reverse has layered printed text.Dimensions7.25 x 5.812 in. (18.4 x 14.8 cm)

Historical NotesArtwork by the Pittsburgh artist Samuel Rosenberg. Artist and teacher Samuel Rosenberg (1896-1972) had a prolific career in Pittsburgh, leading him to be called the “Dean of Pittsburgh painters.” He is perhaps best-known for his scenes of the Hill District in the 1920s and 1930s. Rosenberg was a beloved presence in the Pittsburgh art world and influenced numerous artists through his teaching careers at the Irene Kaufmann Settlement, Young Men & Women’s Hebrew Association, and Carnegie Tech.
