DescriptionRectangular collage created from small piece of mounting board which has been painted light pink. Large piece of black construction paper has been glued to the lower half, with a piece of maroon construction paper has been glued to the lower left corner. In the upper right corner, there is a piece of red construction paper with a golden circle glued and painted on. Across the top of the piece, there is a red piece of construction paper with a little grey piece of construction paper in the upper right corner. On the right side of the image there is a blue piece of paper. The entire piece has been covered with gold paint sponged on.
Reverse has brown cardboard background. There is a piece of black construction paper glued in the upper left corner, a piece of red construction paper in the middle, and a piece of tan consruction paper in the upper right corner.Dimensions4.375 x 5.812 in. Artist and teacher Samuel Rosenberg (1896-1972) had a prolific career in Pittsburgh, leading him to be called the “Dean of Pittsburgh painters.” He is perhaps best-known for his scenes of the Hill District in the 1920s and 1930s. Rosenberg was a beloved presence in the Pittsburgh art world and influenced numerous artists through his teaching careers at the Irene Kaufmann Settlement, Young Men & Women’s Hebrew Association, and Carnegie Tech.
