DescriptionChild's dress or nightgown, thin muslin, white, has hand-stitched pink trim at bottom of sleeves and around the neck with an additional four rows of stitching about 3.5-inches in length underneath the collar. 4-inch pleat at the bottom. The back has an opening approximately 8-inch long from neck down, same four rows of pink stitching on front on either side of opening.Dimensions18.5 x 16 x 6 in. (47 x 40.6 x 15.2 cm)Historical NotesNightgown handmade by Emily Medick Kimmich for her daughter Henrietta Kimmich, born in 1899. German immigrant Emily Medick was a personal seamstress to the H.J. Heinz family until her marriage to another German immigrant, Louis Kimmich, in 1896. The family lived at 5412 Broad Street in East Liberty where Louis ran the L. Kimmich barber shop. The family had two children, a daughter named Henrietta and a son.
