DescriptionWedding gown with head piece and pair of shoes.
Wedding gown. Ivory satin. Lace. Tulle. Silver stranded ribbon across neckline. Same satin-material rose buds line in-shoulders to chest. Lace accents. Tiny glass cylindrical beige beads accent flowers. Short sleeves with lace, slightly puffy; cinched with satin rose buds on hem. High waist. Full to floor. Satin opens in front to reveal lace and silk. Rose buds line opening 10.5 inches from bottom. Attached lace and ruffled satin satin underneath. Train. Back top continues with rose bud and flowers design; bow at waist with 7.25 inch long satin tassels hanging freely: multiple beige threaded balls (0.375-inch and smaller) on ends. Metal hooks up back to lower neck: sewn into gown is a corset with metal hooks.
Head piece. Wax flowers; beige. Insides of opened flowers is yellow. Green stems. Paper-covered wires, green. White tulle bunches on both ends. Metal wires mixed with covered wires.
Pair of shoes. Beige satin. High-heeled. Satin rose buds and pearl beads bunch--similar to gown--on edge of throat: bunch approximately 2 inches long and wide, 1.25-inch high. Eight metal, flat-head nails on wooden heel lift. Smooth, thin wooden outsole. Insole: White leather with beige, rectangular label with gold embroidery. Historical NotesWedding dress and accessories worn by Jeannette Hawkins Ferry on her wedding day to D.M. Ferry, Jr. The wedding took place in the bride's parent's home on Morewood Avenue, Shadyside, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Once married, the newlyweds moved to the husband's native city of Detroit, Michigan.
