DescriptionQuilted vest. Outer fabric-white cotton twill has numerous multicolored appliques and buttons, charms and embellishments, most notably representations from the four suits of playing cards. Also family photographs and newspaper stories transferred to fabric. Edges bound in three part cording--brown velvet, white cord, orange and blue chenille. Poem printed to muslin and appliqued to inside.Dimensions20 x 41.9999 in. (50.8 x 106.7 cm)Historical NotesWearable quilt vest made by the donor for her mother, the late Alberta C. Flaherty of Turtle Creek. The quilt vest incorporates photographs, news clippings, buttons, and pieces of wool from Alberta Flaherty, who was herself a quilter and avid card player. Biographical information is quilted into the lining of the vest.
