DescriptionTwo-piece maternity suit comprised of jacket and skirt. Maternity jacket. Black-and-white houndstooth pattern fabric. Long-sleeve with folded cuffs. Black fabric collar has long rounded points with notched lapel. Faux-double breasted jacket has six houndstooth pattern fabric-covered buttons down front opening (two columns of three buttons each). Three black fabric-trimmed pockets, one on proper left chest and one on front of each hip. Black fabric lining. Maternity skirt. Black fabric calf-length skirt. Waist is adjustable via three black plastic buttons on each side of waist. Middle waist adjustment button has three additional vertical buttons below for connecting to pleated front panel. Two blue twill ties inside waist. Waist has two white loops inside. Three seams down back of skirt.DimensionsHeight x Width (a - width between shoulder seams): 29.5 x 14.5 in. (74.9 x 36.8 cm)

Historical NotesPart of a collection of clothing that belonged to the donor Betsy Matijascic Ranick's mother Mary Demko Matijascic of West Aliquippa, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Aliquippa High School, was married in 1948, and continued to live in Aliquippa for a time. This maternity suit was worn during her first pregnancy from 1948 through 1949.
