DescriptionSquare clock with slanted top surface. Wooden case with brown sides and black top surface. At center of top surface is circular clock with glass crystal and brass frame; clock has white clockface with black numbers and black hour and minute hands; clock has three circular windows below center: day window, second window, and down/up window. Above clock window is arched brass plate with company name and below clock window is arched brass plate with clock information. Back side of clock has brass oval plate at center. Historical NotesClock made by Pugh Brothers. Pugh Brothers was a jewelry company located on Smithfield Street in downtown Pittsburgh with branches in city neighborhoods and small towns throughout the region. The company was founded by John R. Pugh and was the official watch inspector for the district railroads. The clock was owned by donor Shirley Kurtz's father, Saul Kurtz, who ran Federal Liquidation Company. The company acquired wholesale and retail businesses at bankruptcy and liquidated their assets for profit. One of the businesses he liquidated was Pugh Brothers.
