Reynolds in 1922. According to the donor, this clock was owned by William Elliot of Callensburg, Clarion County, PA. The clock was purchased by the donor from Mr. Elliot's daughter, Mrs. Sall Frampton in 1882. Label TextThomas Perkins, the maker of the clock movement in this case, worked in Pittsburgh between 1806 and 1850. He also advertised as a silversmith until 1815, but seems to have concentrated on clocks after that year. A local cabinetmaker probably made the cherry and mahogany case that either Perkins or the owner of the clock contracted to have made. It was common for clockmakers to sell merely the works and dial, leaving the decision of clock case to the customer. A brass plaque inside the door suggests the clock was made for John Rowland in 1806.
