DescriptionSquare piece of multicolored magazine clipping covered in smaller scraps from magazines and wrapping paper. The top edge of the page is red, with a large grey block down the left side, and a large green block in the center. In regards to the smaller scraps, there are two pieces of red metallic paper with a snowflake pattern, a black and white image of a fur coat, and a blue, green, and yellow abstract image. Artist and teacher Samuel Rosenberg (1896-1972) had a prolific career in Pittsburgh, leading him to be called the “Dean of Pittsburgh painters.” He is perhaps best-known for his scenes of the Hill District in the 1920s and 1930s. Rosenberg was a beloved presence in the Pittsburgh art world and influenced numerous artists through his teaching careers at the Irene Kaufmann Settlement, Young Men & Women’s Hebrew Association, and Carnegie Tech.
