Historical NotesWorld War II Army uniform, canteen, and mess kit, Agfa camera, and German National Socialists (Nazi) flag. All objects belonged to William Stanton Ruben who served as an army engineer in United States Army C Company, 3051 Engineer Combat Battalion. Ruben used the Agfa camera to capture much of his war experience on film. In May 1945 his battalion took part in the liberation of Buchenwald concentration camp. The Nazi flag may have been taken by Ruben at that time.
