DescriptionPainting on rectangular piece of white paper. Paper is covered in paint and ink. There are a series of geometric ink lines, predominantly featuring circles, half circles, and triangles in various patterns and combinations. The ink lines have been filled in with red and orange paint with lines from red, yellow, green, and purple oil pastels.Dimensions4 x 2.5 in. (10.2 x 6.4 cm)
Historical NotesArtwork by the Pittsburgh artist Samuel Rosenberg. Artist and teacher Samuel Rosenberg (1896-1972) had a prolific career in Pittsburgh, leading him to be called the “Dean of Pittsburgh painters.” He is perhaps best-known for his scenes of the Hill District in the 1920s and 1930s. Rosenberg was a beloved presence in the Pittsburgh art world and influenced numerous artists through his teaching careers at the Irene Kaufmann Settlement, Young Men & Women’s Hebrew Association, and Carnegie Tech.
