DescriptionOval, wooden picture frame. At the top front of the frame there is a piece of metal attached to the frame, of a shield with stripes and four flags on either side of the shield. On the proper left of the shield there is an American flag and one decorative flag, on the proper right of the shield it is the same. In the exact middle of the shield there is a pole that has a gold leafed top. Each of the flags has a gold leaf top as well. In the middle of the frame on the proper left and right side there another attached metal piece of an American flag, each flag on the outside edge has a gold leafed pole. At the bottom of the frame there is a metal wreath with a ribbon. The middle of the wreath and ribbon is gold leafed. The entire frame is wooden. The glass in the frame is slightly convex. On the back of the frame there are two screw eyes on either side of the wooden framed with a wire running between the two. There is a cardboard backing and three nails to hold it in place.Dimensions2.813 x 18.563 x 1.625 in. (7.1 x 47.2 x 4.1 cm)

Historical NotesThis frame contained a colorized photograph of Harry Keltz that is held in the Heinz History Center's Detre Library and Archives. Harry A. Ketlz was born on February 4, 1889 in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the Pennsylvania National Guard in 1916 before being transferred into Federal Service. He served as a Private First Class in the 148th Machine Gun Battalion in 1917, then in the 102nd Machine Gun Battalion of the "Rainbow Division" in 1918. Harry died on July 22, 1918 from wounds received in action on the western front.
