Historical NotesCommemorative glass frame with photo of Milford H. Reed. Milford H. Reed, a Sharpsburg native, joined the navy while still in high school, after the U.S. entered the war. He was stationed on LST 475 during the war. Many LST's were built locally but the 475 was built in Washington state. He was in the Pacific during the war, specifically the liberation of the Philippines. After the Navy, Reed finished high school, married, and worked in a car dealership selling car parts. He and his wife lived in Millvale.
