DescriptionHexagonal wooden lamp mounted on a round base with a dark wooden case. The expression of each of the six WWI Allied countries are carved in the base, with six white light bulbs surrouding a carved tower depicting King Peter I of Serbia at the top. Historical NotesThe lamp was created by Rade "Fred" Sarac who was a Serbian immigrant. Sarac wanted to pay homage to the Allied countries that defeated Germany during World War I. The lamp is made of 12,260 individual pieces of wood. An Allied country is portrayed on each of the six faces of the lamp - the United States, Britain, Belgium, France, Serbia and Russia. It took Mr. Sarac 18 months to finish the lamp. The lamp was displayed at the 1933-1934 Chicago World's Fair. The case for the lamp was made to ship the lamp by train to Chicago.
