DescriptionGAR badge. The top portion of the medal is inscribed with city name within a bold rectangular border, above which is an arch topped with embellished leaves and the year. The bottom section of the medal is in the shape of a keystone. In the center is the seal of the Grand Army of the Republic: two soldiers, flanked by flags on either side, shaking hands over a seated woman and standing child, with a Native American figure standing in the center of the background. The lower portion has organizational acronym and wearer information. The pin is located on the reverse side of the upper portion of the medal.Dimensions1.375 x 2.5 in. (3.5 x 6.4 cm)
InscriptionsThe top portion of the medal is inscribed "CINCINNATI" above which is "1898".

The lower portion reads "G.A.R." / "DELEGATE FROM / PENNSYLVANIA TO / NATIONAL ENCAPT."
MarksEmbossed on the back of the lower medal at bottom: "J.K. DAVISON / PHILA".
Historical NotesPart of a collection relating to the Pennsylvania Grand Army of the Republic and John Remley who served in the Civil War and was active in the leadership of the GAR. The collection documents the military career of a Civil War soldier from the Western Pennsylvania region.
