BiographyJohn B. Clark was a decorated Marine and Vietnam War veteran who received the country’s oldest military award, two purple hearts, for wounds sustained during the war. John Clark was born to Alfred Clark and Thelma Clark in 1944 and lived on Bedford Avenue. Clark enlisted in the marines in 1964 after recruiters visited his high school. He became a squad leader, went to Da Nang, Vietnam in 1966 and returned after a 13-month tour in August 1967.Clark was wounded during this time and missed a month due to this. During his time in Vietnam he progressed from E3 to E5. He also went to the 8th marines after he returned from Vietnam and left in 1968.
