Dorothy Jacox
Dorothy Jacox was born in Pittsburgh in 1916, lived in Greensburg for a time, but her family returned to Pittsburgh when she was 10. After marrying Hugh Jacox in 1940 she moved to Brentwood. Hugh was employed by Central Airlines which became Capital Airlines. He was inducted into the Marine Corps in 1942 and Dorothy began working for the airline. She began as a secretary and then became a traffic representative before becoming the first woman district manager for a major airline (she thinks). The couple moved to Charleston West Virginia after Hugh was discharged. She visited Pittsburgh in 1950 to have her portrait painted by Paul. After moving around for several years they returned to Pittsburgh in 1984 to retire. At that point Paul had passed away.
