(34.3 x 30.5 x 33 cm)Historical NotesThis basket was used by several generations of a family of Ukrainian descent to bless foods in at church on the religious holidays of Easter and Spasa. The basket was bought by aunt of donor, Ms. Anne Jula. She worked as a sewing machine operator at A. Mamaux & Son. She received this basket from her employers when she was ill in the early 1940s. The basket was filled with with fruit. Afterward, the basket was used to carry fruits for rituals blessing on the feast of the Transfiguration. The basket was also used at Easter morning celebrations. The donor, Michael J. Jula, inherited the basket from his aunt and continued to use the basket for religious holidays with his family.
