DescriptionCircular short wooden tub. Walls constructed of vertically-cut and joined pieces of wood. Metal bands around outside holding pieces together. Two handles opposite each other are made of metal wire and wooden bail.Dimensions12.25 in. (31.1 cm)Historical NotesThis tub was bought in America and used by donor Clement Jurica's family to store large pieces of pig purchased from the nearby butcher shop in Munhall, PA, and to hold sauerkraut. It may have also been used to wash clothing. Donor remembers tub in the late 1920's. Donor's father George Jurica was born in Czechoslovakia in 1889, came to America in 1907, and was a millright at U. S. Steel at the Edgar Thomson Works. He was killed on Good Friday, March 30,1934. The donor's mother Mary Domanic Jurica was born in 1891 in Czechoslovakia and immigrated to America in either 1914 or 1916. She worked as a housewife and died in 1966. They had five children, Emil, George (who was a priest), Gertrude, Mary, and Clement.
