Historical NotesWedding gown worn by Elizabeth Burd Thaw to her 1903 wedding. She married Henry Lafayette Collins in June 1903 at her mother's new summer home, As-You-Like-It, in Sewickley Heights. Elizabeth was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Thaw, Jr. (Elizabeth Dohram) and the the niece of the Countess of Yarmouth (Alice Cornelia Thaw.) Thaw was the niece of Harry Thaw, who killed Stanford White on top of Madison Square Garden in 1906. Her grandfather, William Thaw, was a Pittsburgh millionaire who made his money in transportation and banking.
