DescriptionFloor-length cream-colored floral lace and chiffon fabric dressing gown. Ruffled chiffon fabric along the neckline, front opening, sleeve cuffs, and bottom of garment. Front opening has eight metal hook-and-eye fasteners and is bordered on the bodice by cream-colored chiffon fabric tassels. Body of garment has numerous applied cream and tan embroidered and openwork embellishments. Neckline and wrists have applied brown velvet panels with floral embroidery patterns in green, pink, and yellow. Lined with diaphanous cream-colored pleated chiffon. DimensionsHeight x Width (Width between shoulder seams): 56.25 x 16.25 in. (142.9 x 41.3 cm)
InscriptionsWhite fabric label at the bottom of the proper left front panel has handwritten text in black ink "10895E".
Historical NotesThis dressing gown is part of a collection of women’s clothing that possibly belonged to donor Louise P. Meyer’s “Aunt Bessie,” her mother’s sister. She was tall and many of the pieces were made for her and reflect her love of fashion.
