Historical NotesWedding gown worn by Anastasia Klonis at her 1914 wedding to George Contakos. Anastasia Klonis and George Contakos married in their native Greece on April 19, 1914, and emigrated to America a few years later. George had immigrated to New York City as a teenager and returned to Greece to marry. The couple, and their five children, set up residence in the Altoona area, where he worked in the restaurant industry. The family also lived in Johnstown; George and Anastasia are both buried there, in the Grandview Cemetery.
