DescriptionService award wristwatch with green clamshell watch box, box insert, white pad, instruction manual, and gray external box. Thirty-year service award wristwatch. Gold(?) wristwatch. Rounded square face with glass crystal. Gold hour numbers are Roman numerals for 6, 9, and 12 with gold lines for the other hours and smaller black lines for minutes/seconds. Gold hour, minute, and second hands. Black maker logo and name above hands and additional black text along bottom edge at center. Date at 3:00 with adjustment knob to the viewer's right. Back of watch is stainless steel with engraved service award and maker text. Exterior of band is comprised of gold metal links with internal silver links; larger link below watch face has black and gold Quaker Man logo; back of each silver link has maker text. Wristwatch mounts upon box insert. Green clamshell box. Rectangular paperboard box covered in dark green material. Hidden metal hinge along back edge. Top of lid has gold logo and maker name along front edge. Underside has white oval maker sticker in the back proper left corner. Interior is lined with light pink satin. Interior lid lining has gold logo and maker name at center. Box fits inside gray box. Box insert. Rectangular base with nearly whole oval frame mounted on top at center. Oval frame and top of base are covered in beige suede-like fabric. Underside is white paperboard. Insert sits inside bottom of green box. Watch mounts atop insert. Pad of white cleaning sheets. Rectangular, soft white fabric sheets. Top of each sheet is pillow-like and has recessed maker name at center. Underside has plasticized treatment. Pad fits beneath box insert inside green box. Instruction and warranty manual. Rectangular beige paper booklet with dark brown printed text and details regarding product and maker. Two metal staples along creased spine. Booklet was received inside lid of green box. Gray box with bottom and lid. Rectangular dark gray paperboard box bottom. Exterior is covered with dark gray paper. Historical NotesThirty-year service award watch presented to Joseph Vincent Fritsche, Jr. Part of a collection related to Joseph Vincent Fritsche, Jr.'s career with Quaker Oats. Joseph Vincent Fritsche, Jr., was born in Philadelphia in 1912. He met Louise Catherine Pfister when they were in the same sanitarium after they both contracted TB. They were married in Johnstown, Pennsylvania in 1939 after nine years of engagement. As a salesman for Quaker he was transferred to their Pittsburgh branch and covered the Western Pennsylvania territory and parts of West Virginia and Ohio. He was transferred to Connecticut and worked as a salesman in the Boston area before retiring from the company. Donor Karen L. Fritsche is Joseph and Louise's daughter.
