DescriptionPolice uniform coat, size 46L. Black nylon waist-length coat. Removable black fake fur collar is mounted on the coat with three black plastic buttons. Two shoulder straps each with one small brass button. Front opening has, from top to bottom, fabric tab with black plastic button, five large brass buttons, and two metal snaps; a metal zipper runs along the center of the opening. One pocket on the front of each front panel near the bottom each with one small brass button. Black nylon badge mount above proper left breast pocket; mount has two metal grommets. Each sleeve has black patch on shoulder in the shape of a keystone with embroidered Allegheny County Seal. Each sleeve cuff is lined with black leather trim. All aforementioned brass buttons have the Pennsylvania Coat of Arms on front. Elastic around waist. Half a zipper runs along interior of coat likely for attaching a liner. Historical NotesAllegheny County Police uniform coat. Part of a collection that documents the Allegheny County Police. Formed in 1932, the County Police provide policing for the International and Allegheny airports, county property such as North Park and South Park, as well as assisting local police forces when needed. They have a mounted unit, detective division, as well as homicide and narcotics units.
