DescriptionPolice uniform service coat. Dark gray wool jacket. Stand-up collar. Two shoulder straps each with one chrome metal button. Front opening has, from top to bottom, metal hook-and-eye fastener, four chrome metal buttons, and one gray plastic button. Two breast pockets each with one chrome metal button. Silver metal name badge above proper right breast pocket has engraved name. Metal badge mount above proper left breast pocket. Proper left sleeve has black patch on shoulder in the shape of a keystone with embroidered Allegheny County Seal. Each sleeve has black ribbed band near cuff and also has two chrome metal cuff buttons. All aforementioned chrome metal buttons have the Pennsylvania Coat of Arms on front. Interior is lined with dark blue-green satin fabric. Pair of lapel pins in the shape of the Allegheny County Seal mounted on the collar. Historical NotesAllegheny County Police uniform belonging to J. Stiger. Part of a collection that documents the Allegheny County Police. Formed in 1932, the County Police provide policing for the International and Allegheny airports, county property such as North Park and South Park, as well as assisting local police forces when needed. They have a mounted unit, detective division, as well as homicide and narcotics units.
