DescriptionMen's U.S. Army combat uniform comprised of field coat, pants, and handkerchief.
Men's U.S. Army military uniform combat field coat. Green long sleeve coat. Collar with zippered compartment containing hood. One shoulder strap on each side, each with green plastic button. Zipper and six metal snaps down front opening. Drawstring around waist and around bottom of coat with proper left side's drawstring hanging down from garment. One chest pocket and one hip pocket on each side; each pocket has metal snap closure. Above proper right chest pocket is rectangular green webbed canvas nametag with black last name. Above proper left chest pocket is applied rectangular olive drab patch with black organizational name. Proper left sleeve at top has embroidered red diamond patch of the 5th Infantry Division. Velcro fittings on wrists and collar. Interior perimeter has green plastic buttons for attaching lining; lining is not intact.
Men's U.S. Army military uniform combat pants or trousers, size Short Medium. Green cotton cargo pants. Metal zipper down front opening with green plastic button at top. Seven belt loops around waist and two tightening straps. One pocket on each hip. Two rear pockets each with green plastic button closure. One cargo pocket on side of each thigh each with two green plastic buttons. Drawstring inside each pant leg at bottom. Brown stain on the seat and back of each pant leg.

Historical NotesFrank Gottlieb was a journalist who worked for many Western Pennsylvania media outlets, particularly radio. Gottlieb was born in Midland, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Duquesne University in 1968 with a degree in print journalism. This uniform was worn by Frank Gottlieb during the Vietnam War. He was drafted in 1968 and served in the II Field Force Vietnam, where he worked for the IIFFV magazine “The Hurricane” and the American Forces Vietnam Network.
