Historical NotesMedallion awarded to Charles I. Aaron for his work with the Red Cross during World War I. Charles I. Aaron (c.1873-1947) was born in Pittsburgh, the son of Louis I. Aaron. He was vice president of the Homer Laughlin China Company under his father and an active supporter of the Hebrew Institute. The children of the Hebrew Institute created the Charles I. Aaron Club in his honor in 1921. The Westmoreland Country Club was a Jewish social club at a time when most clubs would not allow Jewish members. The club awarded this medal to Aaron for his efforts with the Red Cross during World War I. The medallion was donated by Elinor Aaron Langer, the grand-niece of Charles I. Aaron.
