DescriptionSet of four (4) commemorative Heinz plates with original box, packaging, and holiday card. Commemorative Heinz tomato soup plate, H. J. Heinz Company plate, Heinz apple butter plate, and Heinz sweet pickles plate. Circular glazed ceramic plates with short sloped walls. Front of plates have decorative images and text. Underside is white with foot encircling black maker and product text. Square cardboard box with short walls and clamshell lid and front closure tab. Exterior is white, top has stylized green partial plate graphic in one corner featuring wood grain and holly. Interior is brown and white cardboard; bottom has plate support packing structure including removable box insert and three plate separators. Holiday card. Green, red, and white square heavy paper card is folded along the top edge; paper has a pearl finish. Front has stylized plate graphic with wood-grain background surmounted by red banner and two red-bordered green bands all with white text; company informational emblem at center; and red text at bottom. Interior has white background with faint red and green images of the four plates and dark green printed holiday message on the bottom half. Historical NotesHeinz commemorative plate set. This item reflects the company tradition of Heinz employee Christmas gifts that used historic advertising and bottle labels and design. Toni Graupe continued to receive the gifts after her retirement. Part of a collection of Heinz giveaways and employee gifts belonging to Toni Graupe, who was a long-time employee of the company. Graupe was the daughter of German immigrants, and she grew up on Voskamp Street in Spring Garden before the family moved to 3681 Spring Garden Avenue where she lived the rest of her life with her sister, they had no children. Graupe retired from the Heinz Company in 1990 after working for the company for 47 years. Graupe worked in the insurance department. She was also a lifelong member of St. Aloysius Church in Troy Hill.
