DescriptionFramed oil painting on Masonite (fiberboard panel). Bust portrait painting depicts African American woman in three-quarter view facing slightly proper left with arms crossed; subject's gaze is at the viewer. Subject wears white collared garment with short sleeves and circular brooch at front of neck. Subject’s black and gray hair is in an updo and she wears pink nail polish. Background is in reds and black. Painting does not have a gesso layer. Masonite texture is visible in painted surface. Gold painted wooden frame with decorative border. Reverse has white Foamcore backing board; backing board and painting are held in frame by brass mending plates.
