Subject wears black high-collared garment with off-white ruffle around collar, gold brooch at front of collar, and buttons down front. Subject wears gold earrings similar in style to brooch. Subject's black hair is parted down the center and tied back in an updo. Background is a deep red, almost black. Masonite texture is visible in painted surface. Gold painted wooden frame with ornate corner decoration. Masonite is held in frame with four brass mending plates.
