DescriptionFramed oil painting on wood hardboard. Bust portrait painting depicts African American woman in three-quarter view facing slightly proper right. Subject wears black and gray garment with high collar and gold brooch at front center. Subject’s dark hair is parted down the center and tied back in an updo. Background is deep red, almost black. Figure has overall green cast. Gold painted wooden frame with ornate corner decorations. Painting is held in frame with four brass mending plates. Reverse of frame has two eyebolts.
