DescriptionHorse blanket award. Exterior is gold fabric with long reflective fibers overall. Blue yarn border. Both sides have blue fabric applied letters with race name and double-R symbol. Front end has two purple satin or silk strips for tying around horse's chest. Rear has blue yarn loop at center and two purple satin or silk leg loops at rear bottom corner that are attached with metal safety pins. Interior is lined with off-white fabric. InscriptionsBoth exterior sides have blue fabric applied letters with race name "ROOSEVELT INTERNATIONAL TROT" and double-R symbol.
Historical NotesFound in collection at Meadowcroft. Horse blanket award from The Roosevelt International Trot. Delmonica Hanover was the winning horse in both 1973 and 1974 with Delvin Miller as the winning trainer and John Chapman as the winning driver. Delvin Miller was born in 1913 and raised on a farm in Washington, PA. He won his first race in 1929 at the Burgettstown Fair. In his career, he won a total of 2,435 races. His legendary stallion Adios sired 589 offspring, including Countess Adios. In 1990, Miller was honored as the only professional athlete to compete in eight decades. Six years later, Miller passed away at the age of 83.
