DescriptionLarge size, three to four gallon capacity, redware crock or storage jar; pale red-orange color body clay, has mottled somewhat during firing; exterior is unglazed, interior has a clear (lead?) glaze; ovoid body, with very smooth sides, narrows at base; incised decorative lines at shoulder, narrows again at neck area, with heavy overhanging rim, flattened in top edge.Dimensions11.5 x 11 in. (29.2 x 27.9 cm)Historical NotesEarly appearance; well-made, unmarked, though possibly Western Pennsylvania regional origin.
