Historical NotesThis poster advertises a parade in Pittsburgh celebrating the ratification of the 15th Amendment on April 26, 1870. The 15th Amendment guarantees the right to vote regardless of "race, color, or previous condition of servitude." The amendment was passed by Congress on February 26, 1869, and was ratified on February 3, 1870.
